Type: | Hi-Low Screw |
Definition: | A hi-low screw is a thread-cutting screw consisting of a low and a high thread. High-Low screws are designed with a double-lead thread where the high thread is sharper than a standard thread making it the perfect solution for low density materials such as plastic and particle board. |
Description: | Hi-low screws have a reduced minor diameter and therefore displace less plastic material and minimize stress. These screws have a double lead high and low thread with the high thread having a 30 degree thread form that further minimizes material displacement while providing positive thread engagement. |
Application: | Hi-Low screws are used in lower density materials so that the threads of the screw can "bite" into the material. Hi-Low screws are the minimal performance solution for fastening in low pressure environments such as plastic, particle board, fiberboard and wood. Hi-Low thread forming screws include a double-lead thread in which the Hi thread possesses greater sharpness than a conventional thread. |
Others: | H-low screws are tapping screws and therefore normally require a preformed hole to be properly employed. |
