Type: | Confirmat Screw |
Definition: | Confirmat-style assembly screws were specially designed for assembly and installation of cabinets or other types of box construction. These unique fasteners act like steel dowels to form strong, stiff butt joints. They have a large shoulder under the head that locks the screw into the wood and prevents pulling through into softer materials. |
Description: |
Confirmats are a type of assembly screws, which are commonly used to join various elements together. They are most commonly found in desks, cabinets, bookcases and drawers. Their construction guarantees a very durable connection. Confirmat screws diameter of all types have a standard 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, whilst lengths of 30, 35, 40, 50, 60 and 70mm are available. Hex Socket Confirmat Wood Screws are made of sturdy 4.8 Steel, and are available in 4 finishes: Zinc, Brown Zinc, Yellow Zinc and Black Zinc. |
Application: | Confirmat screws are designed specifically for use in furniture & carcass assembly. They have a very coarse, sharp angled thread which helps the screws to cut into MDF & chipboard materials. Confirmat screws are particularly effective for right angle butt joints. Confirmat screws will work just fine in plywood too. After you get your hands on a couple of confirmat screws you will likely never use a regular screw for cabinet assembly again. The trick is to bore the hole straight so that you don't get any blowouts on the horizontal shelves, top and bottom. |
Others: | Confirmat screw has another name: Particleboard screw |
