Product Description

Color Zinc-Plated Hot-DIP Galvanized Fetter Drive Buttress Thread Screw

Buttress Screw

Yellow Zinc Plating refers to the color of the chromate that is applied after zinc has been deposited on to the surface of the part. Yellow chromate prevents the zinc from corroding and increases the overall protection of the finish.
Type: Buttress Screw
Definition: Buttress screw: a screw thread in which the driving face is made perpendicular to the axis of the screw (as in a square thread) while the back face makes an angle with the axis (as in a V thread) in order to combine efficiency in the transmission of power with strength.
Description: What type of thread is Buttress? Buttress threads are specifically designed to handle high axial thrust in one direction. Buttress threads also typically have a higher number of threads per inch which allows increased linear screw motion per turn of the screw similarly to an ACME and Square thread.
Buttress threads have a thread where the lines are spaced further apart, making them look more coarse. So they are sometimes called "coarse threads."
Application: They are most commonly used for leadscrews where the load is principally applied in one direction. The asymmetric thread form allows the thread to have low friction and withstand greater loads than other forms in one direction, but at the cost of higher friction and inferior load bearing in the opposite direction.
Others: The profile of a buttress thread or saw thread resembles a saw tooth. This makes it possible to transfer immense force along the screw with a flank angle of 30° to 40°.
