Type: | J Anchor Bolt |
Definition: | What is a Type J anchor bolt? J-type anchor bolts have a bend at one end to grab onto the concrete or masonry structure. These type of anchor bolts are normally cast-in-place-meaning they are inserted into the concrete as soon as it is poured. The concrete cures, and securing retains the bolts in place. |
Description: | Anchor bolts can be incorporated into the concrete as part of the foundation, or they can be mounted after the concrete has hardened. They may feature various shapes, such as hook, bent, or L-shaped. In contrast, foundation bolts, usually in the form of a J-bolt, are employed to secure a structure to its foundation. J-Bolt is similar to L-Bend Anchor Bolt. The Shorter leg of the Anchor bolt is bent in a small U creating the look of the letter J. |
Application: | J Bolts, or Hook Bolts, are typically used for roofing applications. They host a hooked bottom which is designed to hook onto rebar embedded in concrete and threading on the top of the fastener. They are a very common and durable fastener used by construction workers when erecting a new building. |
Others: | What are J bolts made of? J bolts are typically made from stainless steel rods, or zinc-plated steel rods if further strength and rust protection are required. J Type foundation bolt is usually grade 8.8, with the diameter size M16 to M100. |
